Function
The permanent magnets generate a magnetic field which is forced into a closed circuit through pole pieces
and shaft. In the small gap (approx. 0,2mm) between pole pieces and shaft the magnetic field density is
extremely high. Magnetic Fluid is kept in this region and seals the shaft against the static part of the
feedthrough. Radial groves machined into the shaft cause the fluid to form several "liquid O-rings"
(about 10 per pole piece) along the shaft. The pressure capacities of the individual O-Rings are adding
up to a total pressure capacity of generally more than 1 bar.
